Agency vzw was founded in 2019 by artist and activist Kobe Matthys (1970–2023) together with a group of people to support the activity of Agency as a practice.
The organisation’s purpose is 'to explore the interference of the apparatus of intellectual property law for an ecology of artistic practices and to revive a sustainable diversity of practices.'
When Kobe left, he asked Agency vzw to take up his role as main guardian for the List of Boundary Things of Agency, and the space in which it is hosted.
Agency vzw has been keeping the ‘List of boundary things’ and library together since Kobe’s passing. The ecosystem of the space, the List and library, built to allow research, debate and alliance between practices, is what Kobe finished by calling the 'praticauthèque'.
Agency vzw strives to make the praticauthèque accessible and investigates the continuation of public activation in 'assemblies' (formats of exhibition, performance and publication), with due respect for its main inspirator and founder.
To this end, in a trajectory supported by the Flemish Community, several steps are taken towards inventorising the digital and physical environment (List of boundary things, library, architecture) and activating the praticotheque (monthly Reading Rooms organised by Jubilee, an Assembly at Border Buda...see Agenda below)
