Short summary: An invitation to collectively imagine a legal ruling that recognizes the legal obstruction of the collective work of Bureau des Dépositions as an attack on dignity and the right to exist in dialogue with selected ‘things’ from Praticotheque’s List of boundary things and documents from the library.

Description:

In July, the Praticotheque hosts the research “Ré-ouvrir les archives: fabulation pour un procès” of Marie Moreau. Marie Moreau, performance artist, filmmaker and writer, examines how and why immigration law infringes upon the integrity of artistic works, and consequently, the fundamental right to freedom of expression and creation. A former member of the Bureau des Dépositions, (now legally barred by immigration law), she retraces the journey of this group of co-authors and performers, now deprived of their work following the arrest of two of them by border police and the confirmation of their Obligation to Leave French Territory (OQTF). “Fabulation pour un procès”, a performative and speculative assembly that raises the paradox of an infringement on the right (of creation) by the law (of foreigners), aims to pre-enact the margins of the judicial system and engage in speculative justice by substituting the regime of art for the regime of litigation.
